The 2021 Heat Pump Conference included a number of lively and well attended presentations which stimulated debate in the wake of the Heat and Buildings Strategy published on 19 October. We include a summary of the presentations below, together with copies of the presentations.

There is very little regulation, inspection or certification in domestic borehole installations. How can we assure customers that boreholes have been drilled to the correct depth and loops properly installed? How can we assure the owner that the drilling equipment being used is legal, safe, fit for purpose and the operators are competent? Richard Fielden outlines how the BDA Audit Scheme, already in use in the site investigation drilling sector, can be used to provide independent, externally verified and accredited assessment of drillers and drilling businesses.
